# What you get on Friday, and what we will not print

A nozzle check is the pattern you print when output goes wrong: a bar for every jet, and a gap where one of them has stopped firing. The gap is the useful part of the test. This letter is built the same way. The claim that does not hold up is usually the one worth an item.

## Fridays, one letter

**The lead.** One claim about a machine, a market or a rule, with enough detail to take into a shift plan: the official figure, the independent test if one exists, and the distance between the two. When Kornit publishes 400 impressions an hour and a hands-on test comes out at roughly one shirt every nine seconds, both numbers are true and only one of them belongs in your capacity arithmetic.

**Signals.** Short items on what moved during the week. Each one says what its source actually establishes and what it leaves open, because a headline and a finding are different objects and the queue is full of the first kind.

**The verdict.** One claim, rated against its primary source, with the exact quote the rating rests on.

**Dates.** The compliance deadlines close enough to plan around, and what each one changes on the floor rather than in a press release.

## What will not be in it

Numbers without a link. Internal data of any company, the editor's employer included. An affiliate link on hardware, or a vendor paying for a paragraph. A verdict built on a source that refused our fetcher, because we do not guess at what a page said and we do not disguise the fetcher as a browser to get in. When a publisher blocks us, that is what we report.
